Disability- Friendly Churches

How to become a disability-friendly church

Order the Training Manual for Your Church’s Coordinator

Identify who will lead or coordinate disability support at your church. This leader will need to read and become familiar with the We Are ABLE: Training Manual.

Schedule Training with Your District’s ABLE Director

Speak with your district or regional ABLE director about church training. Your ABLE director will work with you to schedule a training session for leaders, team members, and anyone else who may have a role in supporting individuals with disabilities in your church.

Let Your Community Know You Are a “Disability-Friendly Church”

This designation comes with a logo that your church can use in promotions and marketing to let prospective attendees know you are ready to support individuals with disabilities.

Update Your Church’s Training Every Two Years

Having group training with your ABLE director regularly keeps your church up to date on the latest developments in disability support and enables new staff, team members, and groups to receive training.

ABLE Support

In addition to the all-church training, there are many things your local district ABLE director or regional director can provide.

  • "Our ABLE director is amazing! The training really helped us get started!"

    Pastor

  • "When I just need someone to brainstorm with, my ABLE director is there! I am so thankful for ABLE Ministry."
